cannot get the two pc's connected.

I have been running Multiplicity for several years now.

Recently I have been unable to get the two pc's connected. An error message comes up with please check firewall setting on secondary pc.

I have deleted multiplicity firewall setting from both pc's and then let the firewall settings update them selves. This didn't work

Both pc's are on a private network. When I try and find the secondary pc from add computer and type in the secondary pc's name it finds the pc's ip address but cant connect.

I did notice on the secondary pc that multiplicity has two ip addresses under the computer name (192.168.250.65 and 192.168.137.40)

Help. I am lost without this product

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Those would be two different subnets - so you either have two NICs or you have a VPN connection running.  It would be prudent to get with your network people (assuming this is a corp environment.) involved.  Short of that, what has recently changed about your network?

I have closed down all but one network connector on each pc.

When I add a pc the scan doesn't show up the secondary one but if I input the pc's name it shows the correct IP address but comes back with firewall errors. I have deleted all of the firewall entries and let both pc's "allow" multiplicity. Both pc's are connected to the same subnet.

Primary 192.168.1.111 and secondaryb192.168.1.101

I am flummoxed.

Been using this program for a few years without issues

Try adding by the IP, not the host name, instead, example:

Found a really easy way to fix this problem with windows firewall.

Download Tinywall. Install it on both machines. Set it to elevated and then to Autolearn on both. Add a pc on the primary (it found mine instantly).

Turn off autolearn on Tinywall on both machines. Hooray. We are working across two machines again :D

Tinywall is free but I am going to donate. It also helped me fix a problem with a vpn
