Aston worked semi-ok for me.Used lots less resources than Exploder. The themes are really not my bag but as a shell replacement works ok.As of the last version I started having problems with it,like not being able to open Explorer windows, kinda of important don't ya think?I posted a bit about it on their Forum with not much help.I have abandoned it.It lives it my system but I do not need the complications.

I know someone who's completely bonkers over Aston. He even wrote two articles about it for Shell Shocked #6, which umm... isn't out yet. Never mind, never mind.

So is Aston better than DesktopX and WindowBlinds?
leave windowblinds out of the question. Windowblinds does something completely different. (I've never used AstonShell, so I may be completely wrong) Windowblinds just skins your windows and such.

So u guys didnt answer my questions Which is better? ASton or DesktopX or the whole Object Desktop suite?

Try them and see. They all have 30-day trials periods.
Only you can decide which you think is best.

I dont know that's why I ask you guys. I dont think Aston is as good as Object Desktop because it's kinda hard to make animation. I need you guys comments and opinions too.

I used Aston and Alt Desktop for awhile. The problem I had was that it was a shell replacement. It is similar to litestep in that regard. Windows itself is not that stable. Then you add a secondary company and it gets worse. Aston replaces/changes the windows shell. It crashed repeatly on me and I had to constantly reboot to switch between the windows shell and the Aston shell. Object Desktop/Windowsblinds/DesktopX uses the Windows Shell. Therefore, it doesn't add additional problems for the windows shell. For that reason, I ws much happier with Windowblinds because it wasn't constantly crashing and forcing me to reboot to use it. If you want to close DesktopX you don't have to reboot and face additional crashing when you try to do so. Aston was a complete headache for me. Windowblinds/DesktopX is a dream. Then ther is styleXP which are all being ported with permission to Windowblinds. And, those themes don't come close to Treetog,Adni18, or any of the great WB skinners. The only competition, I think, is 3DNA, and I believe that DesktopX can do all of that and more. Maybe Adni18 is sick of the injustice here and decided to devote his skills to a more pleasant and appreciative audience. But, that is just my view. No offense intended to Adni18, I think he is very nice and a great artist. Artists just don't seem to get much love and support here. Okay, so now I will be bashed, slammed and probably banned and you will see what I mean.

Naturally, I use the stardock products all of them. And I like them, or should I say yeah I like the product--but it's the skinners work that I LOVE!
However I do also have TGT Soft's StyleXP--it's not so bad.
Its themes do notcompare to Transylvania, or Luminance or some of the other skinz that I love so from artists that design for WB. But it's fairly decent. I use it mostly when I design a wall that I want to use and none of WB themes will really go, then I whip out Style XP for a short while, till I change my wall.

Aston Shell I've never tried nor downloaded. I've considered giving it a whirl. But not sure.

What theme did Adni made that u guys love so much???

All of them.lol. XP Prime I and II are great. And, XP Professional. Oh yeah lets not forget his Christmas Suite with two icon sets. Awesome, totally awesome. And his Orbicons icon sets(I & II). Orbicon I goes with almost any blue theme and they are round and unusual too. That guy rocks. But, Treetog and Boxxi rock too. Cooper Deck II by Treetog, and Bluegrid and Ultraviolet by Boxxi. Boxxi''s Purple seaside wall looks breathtaking with Ultraviolet. Then there is the Corona skin by Alexandrie, and the miraculous Innovation DesktopX(by Alex Solley) that supplements the WB Corona SKin. The list goes on and on. You can''t really say anyone of these skinners are the best, but Adni18 is definitely a top three contender. And Starone defintely deserves consideration. WB definitely has the best skinners. I just hope it isn''t minus one.

I think XP Professional has the most downloads of all time. I know that the most downloads for any skin belongs to Adni18, I'm just not sure if its XP Professional at the moment.

Mucho Kudos to all these great skinners, and much love from me. Thanks you guys and girls.

the only thing i want to add is that it is not so strange that xp professional has the most downloads if you look for the date it was made

Jincuteguy--

Adni has made many fantastic skins for WB--but if you're looking for his aston skins, he now has made his second one. Which is another beauty. Here's a link to his DA page. http://www.adni18.deviantart.com then click on gallery on this page. One is called "Glint" and the other is "Aquatic" Their both lovely. You'll find them in there. and I also saw his skins at the Aston site, click on skins and look for the above noted names.

Again I know little about Aston as I haven't even tried it but you asked about Aston thus I provided said links.

Aston doesn't compete with Object Desktop. You would use Object Desktop with Aston. Not instead. Aston competes with other shells such as Litestep, Talisman, and to a certain degree, Hoverdesk.

The closest thing to Talisman on Object Desktop would be ObjectBar and it's not a shell.
