fummmm; suites contain many types of skins that are apllied using theme manager and the programs for each skin in suite, WindowBlinds, IconPackager, DesktopX etc. Not including wallpapers and screensavers, which can be in a suite, there are at least 10 types of skins that can be in a suite, which of these do you want to make.

OK lets narrow it down so we can try to point you to some tutorials, what parts of a suite, WindowBlinds etc do you have installed and use.
To make a suite with everything that can be in it would take a top skinner many months. Just a Windowblinds skin can take weeks.
For starters you need a good graphics program, Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro are the 2 most used by skinners here. For DesktopX you need to learn how to code for it.

I'd say the first thing required is patience. Patience to read through all the tutorials and then patience to learn to make something with the graphics program and putting it all together in skin studio. I'm no skinner (no patience or skill :S) but you can't just jump in and expect to make anything worth anything without taking the time to learn everything first.

I don't know how to make skins
I am fairly new to skinning myself and I would suggest starting with Rainlender and/or Sysmetrix. These skins do not require as many graphics as some of the others and will give you some experience with making buttons (which to me were more difficult than anything else) and also get you will get some experience with coding. They both have well written tutorials included and can be downlaoded from xymantix.com for Sysmetrix and Rainlender.net... Goodluck and happy skinning

or you can start with Xion = no coding

There are lots of ways to start skinning. The first question to ask your self is "Do I want to skin app X?" or "Do I want to be a skinner?"

If you want to skin WinAmp be because that's where you spend your music playing time . .go there. If you like Rainlender, that's a good place to start. Don't skin Rainlender if you don't use it. Skin for you.

Windowblinds skins almost everything. It's a wicked lot of work but might be worth the effort.

Pick a goal and go Go GO!
