Starting today, the (very few) icons that I don't have inside a Fence (like the Recycle Bin) are not visible when Fences is enabled. If I disable Fences, the icons show.

My bad!
the missing icons were *behind* a fence. The generally hang out in the lower right corner, and somehow (resolution change for a game, and return to normal?) had gotten moved up and to the left... and were blocked by a fence.
