Auto-Restore Desktop Snapshot

Can it be done?

It's all there in the title really.  Can Fences auto-restore a desktop snapshot after a program is closed or when desktop icons or shortcuts are altered to re-align the shortcuts to their original space?  I run a lot of games on my PC and they frequently shift my shortcuts around, thus making me manually reset the layout each time, which is a bit of a chore.

Managed to find a way around my problem, to a degree at least.
New question, is it possible to lock or fix desktop icons inside a Fence so they aren't auto organized at the whim of a program after launch?  It's still frustrating to manually return things to their original setting, original being where I'd like them to be placed.

Yes, I do believe I'm using it correctly, and sadly the FAQ page doesn't really address the specific issue I'm facing.

Hello,

We will look into your suggestion on adding auto restore layout snapshot. Thanks for your input.

No, unless I over look something, and someone with more info on it comes along and says otherwise. You will need to do snapshot restore manually.

But this sounds different that than the prior question, meaning, you want Fences - not icons - to retain their position after a resolution change.  As was pointed out, and as you seem to have found, snapshots would help with that.  Also, this option:

If your actual question is

'I don't want to have to go to snapshots to help restore my desktop - I would perhaps want to script it with a batch file (or something)'

No, but it is being considered.

Both my secondary and original questions seem like something well worth having just to extend the functionality of the program, but I digress.  Thank you everyone for the help.
A third issue, one that just cropped up after updating my graphic drivers, when I go to make a new fence by dragging and dropping a box with the left (or right) mouse button, it's not giving me an option to make a new fence, just the traditional blue-ish highlight.  Any thoughts on that one?

Was it working as normal before you do your graphic drivers update? Have you try rebooting and see it get solved? If it not. Try the purge and reinstall. https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling
