Phantom Fences

Those 2 shadowy rectangles there are the problem. This started when I only had Fences installed a year ago. I've been mostly ignoring it, because the Fences functionality is worth it. But, I'd like to fix it.This is on Windows 10 x64, by the way.
The shadows appear when windows are maximized, opened, or brought to the front - then minimized or closed (100% of the time). They only disappear when the "Show Desktop" bar by the system tray is used (also 100% of the time). I can repeat this process on the fly indefinitely. Sometimes there's only one rectangle. Sometimes there's three all nested inside each other.
The shadows themselves prevent anything from being clicked underneath them, but only on the shadowed edges. I can click through the middle where there's no shadow, just not the edge. But clicking on the edge itself (right or left click) doesn't bring up any menus, options, or indicator of what process is producing them.
Has anyone seen this before? The search feature didn't really turn up anything. Also, it's sort of a hard problem to describe for a search since there's a hundred different words you can use.
Thanks for your time
