Multiplicity and AVG Antivirus Free

Possible conflict

I've been using Multiplicity and AVG with no problems for years. After installing an AVG program update two days ago, opening the AVG interface locks up Multiplicity and I lose mouse and keyboard control, requiring a complete reboot to free it.

Anyone else had this and/or know a workaround? Thanks.

I'd suggest excluding Multiplicity and see if that solves it.

Thanks - added an AVG exception for Edgerunner/Multiplicity but no change.

Problem is only when AVG interface is opened on a secondary monitor - if I close it (with a mouse inserted on the secondary) Multiplicity starts working again.

Will probably wait to see if it resolves with the next AVG program update. If not, AVG is going to the recycle bin.

AVG is probably intentionally blocking any injected input for 'security' reasons.  Typically this would be only over their window, but I guess they have gone crazy and are blocking everything.

Personally I would recommend you stick with the free but capable AV that Windows 10 already comes with but make sure to let AVG know why you are not using their product in the future.

Thanks muchly for these replies.

After trying a few things including AVG uninstall/reinstall, I think it's a bug in this AVG release: 1. AVG is creating 2 desktop shortcuts 2. Multiplicity never disconnects or flags an error (the mouse cursor either stops at the edge of the primary or it disappears permanently if it's already on the secondary) 3. Having AVG interface open on the primary desktop causes no problem 4. It's the first problem with AVG and Multiplicity in 9 years together.

Temporary workaround for now is a spare mouse into a front USB on the secondary PCs if I need to open AVG for anything. So long as the AVG interface isn't open on a secondary, both programs work normally. Not ideal but I don't need to keep restarting the secondaries to get Multiplicity back. With any luck, it might resolve with the next AVG program update...
