How do i get a picture of my desktop?

I'm only 14 and i want to upload a Desktop X thingy, but i don't know how to get a picture of my desktop!

Do a print screen. Open a paint program and copy it there. Do a save as and select jpeg.

Just get your screen the way you want it, then hit your "Print screen" key, usually above the insert key. Then open your graphics editor (Paint, photoshop, PSP, or whatever you have) create a new image and hit "paste"
