Changes to authorisation

Martin...no, not to the levels as such, but to the method of 'update' handling.
I just updated my WinAMP skin and found it in the WA-pending section, myself...

I'm not totally up-to-speed with the mechanics, but the system is intended to help control 'update abuse', where some have been found to needlessly push updates through frequently to inflate their download rate.

Neither you, nor I have had our levels 'altered'...we haven't upset anyone...

I have been known to update a bit. (Probably about 2-3 updates per skin on my first 2 skins for WB) It's just cause I'm new, and I use my stuff for a while after I upload it and usually find small problems/ things I could add and/or improve upon and such. I try hard to make sure each update is a significant improvement upon the previous. I haven't upset anyone either, have I?

That's understandable, knatzz. Although some people make minor fixes or changes to a skin and note it in the description without making it an "update," from what I understand, that puts it again at the top of the page.

Jafo's mentioned "update abuse" before and I dunno about that, but I guess he has a reason for saying so. But it gets a tad irritating (when I'm cranky) when I see the same skin "updated" frequently within a short time period for small things that I didn't notice anyway. I then just hold off downloading until it looks like they've calmed down and gotten it in a semi-final state. That doesn't go for new skinners who are responding to points raised in the comments and are just trying to improve the skin. But evidently one can make small changes to a skin without making it an "update" which I suppose is intended for major changes, like making a skin WB4 compatible, for example.

Thanks sig, Maybe the admins should post an "update etiquette" guideline or something? (or maybe they already have and I missed it) I can see how this feature could be abused (even unintentionally) and especially by us newbies
