I forgot to mention supposed "Healers" too. Way back about 11 years ago when I was a full-blown holy roller Christian, my husband and I wrote this 'televangelist' about our nephew who was dying and we got a very 'dry' note back saying, "Sometimes the Lord yadda yadda" > He died a few months later.

When people are vulnerable they are like prey to these kind of people.

I was involved in an 11 year old boy abducted by a stranger case, and met some psychics.

Not only did they leach off the media, but those that were in shock, pain and suffering.

Not once did they provide one clue to the whereabouts of this child who is still missing now since 1989, but had the audacity to say they were instumental in processing leads that "may have proved fruitful if only...."

I believe they are nothing more than charlatans feeding off of other peoples misery and misfortunes for profit and selfish gain.

When given simple tests and failing, they always had an excuse, which wonder of wonders, was not their fault.

As far as I am concerned, they are worse than the abductor that took the child.

I must amend something, If I was super-psychic, I probably would go insane...I don't WANT to be in YOUR head since it's hard enough to be in my OWN (LMAO) and I don't want to be near or anywhere CLOSE to the dead! If they are psychic, shouldn't they answer your phone call with "Hi, jcg!" Then, answer your questions before you as them!

They should pick it up before it rings.

/me is too lazy/tired to read this whole thread but jumps in anyways from the title up there cuz it caught me, I don't believe in them at all, I think the ones that are set up for "Pay for services" are all fake, I feel when it comes to loved ones there is some kind of feeling or whatever you want to call it that could be psychic.
lets put it this way I had a strange thing happen between me and an uncle that passed away from liver cancer we had some strange thing happen and we were never close as some uncles and neices go, he was a wild man died young as a result of it, and I was kinda speaking about God to him and some thing strange happen to him before he passed that blew my mind, and we were not together at the time it happened to "him" maybe it was not psychic maybe spiritual? I'm too lazy to even try to explain but this should be another come back to read "Angela's thread" for me... hehe

Personally, I have a problem with the word "Physic" in itself. First it makes me think of Dione Warwick and her physic friends, and of course Madame Cleo! And it makes it sound like the person is all-knowing, and that is far far from the case!

What Shmoopy! said is right, sadly, ever so sadly, we have many people out there taking peoples money and it is quite easily done. As normally when someone comes to a medium (the average person) something is wrong in their life, and they want answers. You don't see Madame Cleo anymore because that operation got busted! The readers that were hired, while some were legite and protested the rules, they were told to either go with the script or they were fired. Basically, if the caller were to try hanging up the reader was then instructed to annouce that they can see in the cards that their spouse is having an affair... Blam! They wanted to know more. There goes over a 100.00. That is sick and that so wrong. And stints like that give decent readers a bad name.

However there are 'readers' as I prefer to call them,are not all phoney's. I knew one lady (may she rest in peace) who never charged me a darn nickel, we could go without talking for months and months and I would call and she'd say, "Why are you wasting your time on that fool?" or something of the like before I said anything. Once she said, "Tonja...ohhhh you gained 5 pounds." and I never uttered a syllable other than Hi Betty how are you? I didn't like that comment needless to say. That was supposed to be my secret.

And it doesn't always work with everyone, for instance, I do tarot cards (no I don't claim to be 'psychic-- I just read tarot cards)
I was giving my mother a reading, and I figured out some regrets and a depression my father was going through, and he never told any of us. I told my mom what was going on. A couple of months later, we're having dinner and he tells us about certain feelings he had. My reading was on the mark. I read for some other people, they say I was correct. I read for my sister...NOTHING is EVER correct! I read for myself... I'm always dying LMAO. But then again I do for the heck of it once in a while, it's a play thing for me.

Bottom line is sadly many are phoney's, but there are some decent people out there that can be trusted. There is NO SUCH THING as a FORTUNE TELLER. That's the problem with so many, they get on their high horses, and "I'm psychic and I know all...I am all" kick and that is impossible. They can't be right all the time. They are only human. NO ONE can tell you your ultimate future.we make our own destiny. And anyone that says they can tell you the absolute future is full of it. But they can say, well from what I see Thursday you will get fired for that new nose ring, they won't like that. Then don't where the damn nose ring! Don't go to work thursday with the ring. Blam path changed. I think you get my point.
