Logon Studio Problems

Hi all,

Before i begin i would like to say that i did read the FAQ's. Followed their directions and this still didn't work.

I have logon studio or whatever its called. I have used it before and it worked fine. I uninstalled it a while back and now have it again. I have the blackcomb theme on my comp...from windows theme (windowblinds 4.0) to my trillian...i mean everything!

I want the login to be it again too.
I open Logon Studio and only three choices show up...the welcome themes.
I clicked load then loaded the blackcomb theme that i downloaded from here. But it doesn't show up. I've done this over and over in as many ways possible. Even crashed the comp.
How can i get this to work?
Thanks in advance!

I had this problem with some themes too. I am assuming you are trying to use the blackcomb logon created by Voodoo_Freak as the one by Mark Jaquith works fine.

Anyway - I just downloaded the BlackcombLogons.logonxp file from Wincustomize to test this procedure. As you said, I open logon studio and press the Load button and select this file, and nothing seems to happen. Actually something did happen, if you look in your \Program Files\WinCustomize\LogonStudio\ folder you will see that folder named BlackcombLogon has been created. If you look inside this folder there will be a file named Blackcomb Pro.logonxp. If you load this file from LogonStudio, it will work just fine.

Now - to explain why. Notice that the original file was named BlackcombLogons.logonxp, with an 's' at the end. Voodoo_Freak has been kind enough to include two resolutions of the logon for us. The file is not a .logonxp file - it is a .zip file. If you rename it with a .zip extension then open it you will see it contains two folders (1024 and 1280), each of which contain a Blackcomb Pro.logonxp file. Using the method above I don't know which resolution you're getting, but by renaming the file you downloaded to a zip you can choose the right one.

Everytime I've downloaded a .logonxp file that doesn't work I've opened it as a zip and found what I really needed inside. Good luck.
