Can Someone Tell Me Why This Keeps Happening...

I keep getting messages that there is an update available for one thing or another in Component Tray. When I click on it a small window comes up saying what the update is and a button to say "OK." This morning it was "Windowblinds 4.00b" is what was there. I click "OK" and Component Manager comes up. I update the information just to make sure it's correct and then go to "Available Components" and click on "Check for Updates." It has always come back as "No Updates Available at This Time." The only time it hasn't done that was the first day I bought OD when I downloaded all the components, and then once, or maybe twice, for WB 4.00a and I think it was IconPackager. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? TIA for the help. Here's my [email protected] address if email is easier for you.

This is a known thing and the developer is working on it.

just out of curiosity, why are you still using CM? I thought stardock central replaced that.

Thanks werewolf, but does that mean I'm missing those updates or are the alerts just false starts?

Ms. crissy14, I guess that's part of the problem. I have seen on the Stardock website that SC is still in beta I do believe. Doesn't really matter though because even if it was a full-on release I can't seem to download anything anyway. Am I missing something on their website where I can get updates that don't go through CM?

Go into component manager and click on "latest news" then look for "Stardock central 0.99 Rc5 Available". Then click on "MORE". This should initiate a download of stardock central. Maybe then you can get your updates.

Hi Again Ms. Crissy,

Thanks for that. It was just as easy as you said to get the executable. I guess I should uninstall CM before installing SC? Not sure about that. Anyway, thanks a bunch. Sometimes things are just too simple for me to see!

BluesStringer, you do not need to uninstall CM when installing Stardock Central. However, they *do* install to different locations, so you may need to move your skins once you install SDC.

Also, you may not have CM set to view all components (it defaults to released) so that may be why you are not seeing beta releases. In SDC, you will want to set it to show pre-released versions to see the betas.

If you need more info or help with that, please email [email protected]
