RE: Winstyles

If a pick a suite where all the colors are green and i have WB4 can i change the colors to what i like for me? Like the toolbars and borders and things? Also if a pick a few icons from here and there and set them on my PC that would not be creating my own theme right? Now i am not stupid but i just woory about taking from others for my own use and by accident sending them here as my own. I read a few messages that i think were saying people were taking and not giving others credit. I am just learning how to use OD.
Thanks

This is so confusing, ok i have 2 window blinds in my component manger???? I have 2 of a few OD software. Do i uninstall the older versions and just keep the new ones? Also what about the ones that read a and b. do i keep them both? Is that an upgrade? I wish Stardock would make this clear for me, i e-mail them and they give me there URL and i can find the answer no where.
thanks again!

Component Manager (and I believe Stardock Central also) will show various versions of the software available for download. So it's not unusual to see different versions of the same program. The numbers and letters should be sequential for releases. The latest is the latest version by version number and date. Small incremental updates frequently can be installed on top of your existing program, unless recommended otherwise or you prefer clean installs.

Do you have CM (or SDC) set to show only publicly released versions of the software, or do you have it set to show betas also? If you have it set to show only publicly released versions then that's what you'll see. Stardock is still tweaking WB 4 so what you are probably seeing are small updates to address bugs or issues. I'd advise staying witht the "official" public releases and not trying betas unless you're comfortable with beta versions of software.

You can go to the stardock windowblinds development newsgroup at news.stardock.com to see what's up with the newest releases since they are usually announced there with info about what is being fixed or tweaked. The newsgroups usually have other users and the occasional Stardock employee cruising by. It's not an official Stardock support venue, it's more like peer to peer support. Just as this messageboard here isn't part of stardock support. But the newsgroups can be helpful as they're directed toward specific Stardock apps and related issues.

Also, in regards to your first question, you can modify others' skins, icons, etc for your own personal use on your pc. But you cannot upload even the modified versions to a website for distribution without first obtaining written permission from the original author(s) since the original graphics are still their creation. Permission by the author(s) should be included with the upload.
