Opera

I've been reading a lot about this. Does anybody use this browser? Is it as good as it sounds? Thanks.

I use Opera... it really depends what you mostly do with your browser. For basic surfing any browser will do (download opera's demo and try it out) I very seldom but from time to time I have to use IE to view a site. But Opera has a feature that lets you tell the site your visiting that you are using either IE or Mozilla. Pretty cool. As for it being the fastest browser as Opera claims I'd have to say that it really depends on the site your visiting. There is also a reg tweak to alter how fast IE can load page info... by default all browsers are limited too 2 connections at one time... so it loads only 2 pieces of graphic at a time... this can be changed to 10 for some nice speed. (only usful if you have highspeed) Opera also has the ability to zoom a website really neat for examining pics close up. built in pop up control... and a few other goodies.

Thanks. That was the info I needed. I do have cable so this will probably work well for me. I will be downloading it tonight.

I also noticed that you can skin it with some WinCustomize stuff (Toon for example). Do you still use all the other Stardock products?

I'm using the Abracadabra WB skin right now with the Azure Opera skin. I think they go really nicely together.

Probably my favourite Opera feature is mouse gestures - the ability to perform some tasks of surfing my mouse movement. For example, holding the right mouse button and moving the mouse up then down and releaseing refreshes the page. Takes a bit of getting used to, but when you do you find yourself using the gestures in all other programs and getting really frustrated when they don't work.

Just make sure you download the version with Java bundled.

I tried Opera, but honestly I can't see any speed increase over IE.
