I can't install downloaded skins

I just downloaded some skins and I try to install them but they don't seem to. I've tried to install skins from the web and from my HD and nothing seems to work. I see the folder for the skin then when I click on it to install nothing happens. Whats going on, it can't be this hard, what am I missing?

You need Windowblinds to apply the skins http://www.windowblinds.net/

Powered by SkinBrowser!

I've got windows blinds, I have it set on one of the Z skin now. I downloaded skin Systronic-15. I go into my Appearance tab, hit Add find the folder in the WindowsBlinds folder and I open it and its blank. Nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

In the box on the left you see a list of skin categories. Each library is a skinning format that supports a particular piece of software. The software is necessary to install the skins.

At the top of each skins list there is a link to download the software.

ry this, right-click on the download link and select "save target as" download the skin file to your desktop and then use the "add" button in Display Properties to add the skin.

Is it only one skin you're having this trouble with? If so, it's probably a problem with that skin's zip file.

"ry this" would read better if the keyboard had noticed I hit the SHIFT-T button at the beginning of that sentance... stupid keyboard...

Bingo! Did the right-click save as, threw it on the desktop and it worked this time. I'm not going to have to save everything to my desktop do I? I like to keep it cleen.

Where should I normally save it to? I figured in the WinBlinds folder would be the right spot. Am I wrong?

After you install the skin delete its file from the desktop...

btw - this problem only occurs with Windowblinds downloads because of the association with .wba files. It tries to download and install automatically from a temp directory but it doesn't always work.

You can save the file anywhere you want, I suggested the dektop cause it's easier to delete the file after adding it.

btw - there's a way to change the behavior of Windowblinds downloads so it always asks to save it (defaulting to the desktop) rather than just automatically sticking it in some invisible spot.

In any explorer window on the menu open "Tools/Folder Options" click on the "File Types" tab
wait while it populates....
...
...
scroll down to .WBA, select it, click on the "advanced" button and put a check in the box for "confirm after download".

Now when you click on a skin's download link it will go directly to the save file dialog like any other file type.

You will have to redo this everytime you install a new copy of Windowblinds.
