Cannot Pin Files/Documents to Word or Excel in the Start Menu

The most useful feature for me in the Start Menu for Win7 was that Word and Excel had a ‘menu’ (expand arrow at right) that showed Pinned and Recently opened files. A R-click on any recent file/doc could then be placed in the pinned list. This gave quick access to desired files.

I have just began using Start10 and it looks great so far. However, I cannot replicate the above feature.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I found a very useful work-around for this!

Windows Start menu will respond to shortcuts placed in the folder C: > ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs.

For example, I added a folder "Favourites" under the latter folder.

Then, I added shortcuts to favourite files (Word, Excel, Video, etc) into the folder Favourites by (1) R-clicking on each file in turn (2) creating a shortcut on the Desktop and (3) moving the shortcut (copy/paste) to 'Favourites'. The intermediate step to the desktop is required because you cannot create a shortcut directly into C: > ProgramData ... Programs.

When I R-clicked on 'Favourites' > Pin to Start Menu (Start10) it was pinned to the Start10 menu and a mouse hover (or D-click) will display its contents as a list at right. Then, a single click opens the chosen file!

Excellent!
