Q about DX2

Just a quick question:
Will DX2 make it easier to switch between desktop resolutions? I'm not sure if this is even possible but it's kind of annoying to load up a new theme and everything's out of place. What's worse is when you have no idea where some of it should go.
hmmm, maybe stardock will put up a "What's new" page for DX2 or something.

I know your problem, I made a dx theme for the resolution 1024 X 768, when i switched to 1280X1024 all the things got messed up.
I believe its a error in the skin, not in the software...

The metrics (positions/lenght) in the theme really have to be ultra-exact. And You have to set bars for example to a percentage they should take of the screen, not pixels.

I don't think it's an error with either actually. In the description of most skins the author lets you know what resolution it will work with. What i'm hoping for is maybe some sort of feature that can sort of track where the objects are on a certain resolution and recalculate the positions of the objects according to another resolution. Doesn't sound too difficult but I've only done one or two dx themes (sorry i haven't uploaded any of them) so it may be more complicated that I know.

Incidentally, all you ODNT users, do you guys get a list of new features with every build of app that's available? I'm still on the fence with ordering ODNT (especially since I've already got DX and WB4) but It seems most of the things that i'd want aren't being offered.

I've only been with ODNT for a short time, but most of the time that there is a new build, beta, release or whatever, there is a link for the "history" that shows the main changes, additions or fixes.

if you go to the Stardock newsgroups you can look and see for self...usually they post an announcement of new build avail and list changes there too if you dont have ODN

thundr51: Depending on the style of the theme it is possible to set it up to be resolution independent. It is not that complicated and the settings in DX are there to enable it with ones that just show a bar or something. If DX won't do it itself it is possible using dxscript to calculate where on the screen to show things. My latest theme will use both methods. Partially DX settings and partially code to tell it where to appear. Using these methods it's possible to make objects that snap to other ones or the screen edge. Unfortunately at the moment DXscript still has some issues which are due to be fixed soon that cause problems when doing complex scripts.
