Sticky Keys

I'm playing the tutorials on a Windows 8.1 PC and the fifth tutorial asks you to set up a repeating shipment of food to the offworld by pressing the shift key and then left-clicking the icon. This isn't working when I press and let go of the shift key (to toggle it on via Sticky Keys) and click the icon.  In fact, I have to completely turn Sticky Keys off before holding down shift and clicking works.

Sticky Keys does work when selling goods. I can press and let go of the shift key and then click "-" to sell a hundred units.

Can this please be looked at? Sticky Keys support is built into Windows and I can count on one hand the number of programs I've come across in 20+ years that somehow interfered with it.

By the resounding silence should I assume that the developers have moved on and the game can be considered abandonware?

Looks like that's mostly for arranging tournaments and multiplayer games. The lack of support for a game released in April is disturbing.
