What to say when other people use your graphics without permission...

...and give this as a reply when called on it:

"Permissions? Isn't it all "free use"? Isn't that what skins are all about?
"

You tell them, "Skins are free to USE, not free to redistribute." And send them to this link. http://www.rightsforartists.com/siteindex.html

Sounds like someone to be dealt with. An Admin needs to be pointed in the right direction.

Better question:
Q: What do you say to someone that makes money out of your graphics that you have freely released and for which you yourself are not making any money?
A: Welcome to Wincustomise.

You can call it "gone" now........

Dokt....if you imagine that to be the case, what say you contribute substantial funds to the site's bandwidth use...

Are we yet again referring to the sale of compilation CDs?....an attempt to have Wincustomize.com 'pay its own way'?

I personally have bought each and every one of them, purely to be a 'little' help.....some are still in their postage, since the intent was to contribute, not to actually access more skins...

Hi juni
just explain to him how it works and tell him yeah clip art type stuff is free to float around as your own work but not when you make the stuff from scratch like you do!
if he does not take heed, make a really cool pocket blind skin and tell him to be sure to have the pocket blind skin options set to auto load? (then forget to put the close button on the skin) hehe!
I'm kidding!
I'm thinking of Glen when he loaded a bugging pb skin he had to reformat his ppc and lost everything! why am I laughing? it happened to me too once argh!!!!

hopefully after you tell him in alittle more detail how it works he'll get the msg? you've been around long enough to know how some are though some don't even care some actually don't know and are innocent about it when they start out trying to make skins (It's a compliment he liked your stuff well enough to try w/ yours)

of course last resort is sick Jafo on him or grab a bat?

Thanks, I see it is gone . If it had been done well and the person had asked for permission it would have been a different story.

There's something inheritely strange about skinning. Its origins lie within the realm of copyright infringement: the first skins were hacked .exe's. Strange how the tide has shifted in time.

Just pondering, by the way.
