Read Jafo's answers.
Logos and jersey colors are protected my trademark. I'm sure the NHL would be happy sell a licence to use it, but it's unlikely that anyone would be ready to pay for it.

BTW' i know that first hand. I emailed the NHL myself to find out, cause I started doing hockey team Windowblinds skins a while back. I abandonned my project after I got the answer.
