Skin Studio

I am trying to make a mouse over not be black for the XP task bar, but I can't find the part of the code that is selecting the image. For that matter I am not even sure where the image is coming from.

When you mouse over the programs button, it turns black. On other skins they have a image for the mouse over, I just can't seem to find where that image is.

There is nothing black in my skin yet, there is it in the mouse over on more programs.

anybody know whay I am talking about?
Please help!!!

I think I do, are you talking about the all programs menu? I am trying to get that black in my latest but it is dark blue! If you are looking for the mouseover on the xp start menu, it's a section called "panel item background". Hope that helps

It's right under "more programs" in the "start panel" section

Look in the Explorer tree view, it's in the Desktop section.... Start Panel ...... as knatzz said, it's under More Programs, and probably grayed out...

oh no... not that one. that is the image that comes up after the you have already moused over AND pressed 'All Programs'.

What I am talkin about is the image when the mouse is right over the 'All Programs' area of the start panel (as well as the other buttons in the left start panel.

Maybe I should upload it so you can see... It's just so lame right now I am afraid to show it.

I looked at essorant skins and he has different mouse over's for that area. 2 I am looking at now is Goof and Kentix.

SO far as I know, You can't put an image over the all programs menu, and the image over the left panel is the same that goes over the right one, but up that pic so I can have a look, I'm not entirely sure I'm right about this.

ahhhhh.... I think I found it... but the computer crashed before I could take a real good look.

I can't imagine where... well, I guess somebody knows because essorant, the factory, treetog and other are changeing the mouse over era.

so knatzz, whe you mouse over the left part of the programs bar and the 'All Programs' buttons, the mouse over you have can be changed right?

I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow. the only way I'll get on now is whe she goes to the bathroom.

The way I understand it, and the only way I have done it, the "panel item background" will be the image used for any mouseover on the start panel, left and right sides. This image won't work when the mouse is over the "all programs" section, which we can only change the color of. If you have seen skins that have a mouseover for the "all programs" section, post a link to them, cause I have yet to see one, and would love to know how to do it if possible. If you are talking about the menu that pops up after "all programs" is highlighted, look for "menu", and "menu item", right under "bottom bar" in the treeview in Skinstudio, but I doubt that's what you mean. Anyone else feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, cause it wouldn't surprise me much if I was!

I think i may know what you are refering to. Do you mean the color that appears when you mouse-over the "all programs"? If so, I have found a way to change that under "Miscellaneous"..."colors".."selections"..."text-highlighted".
I have found that if you make the text the same color as the "more prog. background", you wont get that nasty blue or back highlight.

You can have an image for the 'all programs' button, but the mouseover for it is a solid colour which is definied in the colours section as:
Menu - highlighted text (XP only)

The other items in the left and right panes use the panelitem image.

thanks.

I was trying to make it like essorant's Goof. He uses a image not a colour. I will look then when I get up in the morning.

or was it Melt? I think it was Melt.

Hey,
I just dled melt, that's not an image, just a color, even checked it out in Skinstudio to be sure. The way he set the margins and such makes it look very similar to the image he uses for the panel item. But if you check it out you can see the difference. Man, sure wish WB4 was able to give us an image there, that's always been a sore spot that's hard to deal with. Essorant sure does a good job with it though.

There might be a way: I have been messing with the all proggy menu, trying stuff out, there is an animation section for it, so I made an image with two states. It displays right but I haven't been able to make it animate; could be cause it won't animate, or also could be I don't know how to make it animate. We can also modify the size of the area that is colored on mouseover through the content margin attribute, but if you completely get rid of it the menu won't show up when you mouseover it. But, IF we can get the animation to work, all we have to do is adjust the content margins so that they are high, and color the "Menu-highlighted text (XP Only)" color to the best match of the middle of the second image state and it should look like the all proggy menu is a mouseover button. Anyone follow me? If you are a skinner and are familiar with animation sequences in WB please help!

animation is the next step...

WOW

Thanks!!! That is very helpful. I will try to set it up so I can get some kind of border around the image. I'll look closer at Melt, Goof, and other essorant skins to help me out.

Thanks again.

Been trying the animation, but still can't get it to work... I'm starting to think it won't, but I'm still not entirely sure. It might be disabled in the current WB4 beta, so I'm gonna wait for the Official release of WB4 before I try the animation again, but I did get a nice effect from adjusting the content margins, you can barely tell the color is over the pic.

Good News: I've been messin' with the animation and I got it to work!
Bad news: The cycle starts as soon as the start button is hit and there is no way I can find that will allow us to make it look like a mouseover button. If anyone knows differently, please correct me!
