UIS1 vs. UIS2

Could someone please enlighten me regarding the pro's and con's of UIS1 vs. UIS2? I recently downloaded the updated version of the Longhorn WB skin and there are choices for both. Thanks in advance

Can anyone tell me what is involved in converting a UIS2 skin to UIS1. I mean in SkinStudio. I know there's a function to do that, but does it make the skin dual compatible or does it make it UIS1 only? Also can you convert UIS1 to UIS2?

You can convert either way. It will only be dual converted if you save both versions.

Thanks, WOM. I didn't want to try it until I got more info in case it made me lose something I wasn't ready to do without, or something like that!

I really don't think there are many differences between the 2.

UIS1 works well with some programs and is faster. Runs more like the original explorer window pane from what I see.

UIS2 has more options and can be more 'animated' than UIS1. It can have more room for imagination than UIS1.

I'm coming up with some stuff in the next 3-4 months , that to me basically calls out my points. One will be very artsy and use allot of transparentcies and maybe some animation on selected areas while the other (the same idea) is more confined to a specific area with animations and transparentcies.

Take a look at BlackComb for Windowblinds. It uses both. Then look at only UIS1 skins and then look at UIS2.

Another good example is Combat Flight Simulator by The Skins Factory. They use both UIS1 and UIS2.

oh and UIS2 skins more places than UIS1.

But WOM said that already
