My idea on how the rating system could be improved.

What would be good is if there was a popup questionnaire, that showed up after 2 or 3 days of using a certain theme or skin, where there would be an option to complete a short form that asked you questions on the theme's/skin's performance and then it generated the rating number for you, and automatically sent it to the site.

This would make the rating system more constant, and more credible.

What do you think I’m sure this could be done some how?

what about ones that never get used or downloaded? wouldn't that conflict

Adam...a lot of people are paranoid about what their computers are contacting/sending info on, and would resist that sort of 'intrusion' to the bitter end...

Dark Mist, how can you rate a blind if you don't download it and try it out? You could look at the preview or thumb nail and give it a rating but what good is that if you don't know if it works. So unless people are just BSing the system there shouldn't be a conflict.

thats my point though WOM, you look at a skin or whatever and think its good but something you don't want etc, i can only imagine it working if everyone downloaded it, im mainly talking about walls, i see it and like it but dont want it so i rate it by its looks

Dark Mist, people will put in the comments on a blind that it doesn't work for whatever reason. 2 or 4 other people will say the same thing, but that doesn't matter, everyone will download it anyway to see for them selves instead of waiting for the person to fix it. Then download the better product.

thats fine with skins but what about walls, the suggestion was using it for a while and few days later getting a pop up, i comment on great pieces but some i'd not use on my desktop. so if you wanna rate it do you really have to use it for x amount of time

A wall or Logon fill the screen. If you blow it up you can see if its nice, good, great or whatever. Most look like crap and I wouldn't download it or use it.If I don't like the color, desigh or content, why would I download it. Waste of my time.

Adam, don't know why we are talking about the rating system. It's been discussed a million times already and nothing has changed and more than likely nothing will. All that will happen is the usual people will comment and most of them will be upset with the current system. Oh well.

I'm not that familiar with the rating system, but I'll toss an idea out there.
What about rating each work in say 3 categories. Something like (1) Artistic, (2) Technical ability, (3) Useability
These are just examples, but would cover a lot of the areas. I'm sure more or better categories could be suggested.
