WB 4.0

Will we be able to use our "old" skins from 3.5 with the new version? I'd hate to have to start over, collecting them again.

The newer version of WB skins areas that the older versions doesn't.

/me is going to try to be politically sensitive now for someone

The majority of the areas skinned by the BETA of wb is the shell. If you have those turned off then there is no VISIBLE difference between 3.5 and the BETA

/me hopes she made it clear that she was not refering to a final release of wb.

So, what happens if you have 3.5 and download a skin made for 4.0? Your screen does a jig, or something? (Don't laugh, I've had that happen!! Really!)

MouseGoddess-It can do a little jig once in a while but then settles down and works quite well. Relatively no problems and I have Windows ME!!

yeah... the 4.0 skins are identical to the old ones, only with new components added that arent relevent to the old versions... the only difference is that the new components wont be skinned in the older versions...

sooo, when a skin that is designed for 4.0 can be downloaded and used for 3.5?
I have Windows 98 and can't use WB 4.0 yet.

Even then I am getting win2000 and I am not sure if WB4.0 will work on it.

Sorry but I have all the shell options shut off so don't know what the default graphics look like.

For me the shell items are not needed. Drag and drop is a more useful tool that uses less resouces.

I forget where but you can set your displays to either be for visual or preformance which shuts off all the shell options.

wb 4.0 is for XP only however Stardock will have a version of 4.0 possibly 4.1 or some such available in a few months for Non-xp users that will utilize most of the same features as the xp edition... the problem is that with XP most of the features required very little programming, howver with earlier version more code is needed to be written, and stardock is writing the xp features from scratch...
