Need Sysmetrix help

Here we go...

Since I first installed it a little while ago, I could never extract the Sysmetrix skins to my themes sub folder in the Sysmetrix folder. It wouldn't create a new folder as you would think but would say the files already exist and ask me to overwrite.

As a result of this I created a new folder for every Sysmetrix skin I downloaded under the themes folder. I have around 15-20 skins and the last time I downloaded one before yesterday was a little while ago. I created a new folder for the Doublet Sysmetrix skin yesterday and extracted it but it doesn't show up when I go to change it. I thought it might of been a problem with that skin but now I can get any new skins to work .

Any suggestions? I would hate to uninstall and get every skin again.

there are 2 folders for doublet

#1 doublet
#2 doublet lite

they should be \sysmetrix\themes\doublet
and \sysmetrix\themes\doublet

If this is how you have them then there is another problem...If this is not how you have them them put them in that way. You could also unzip using the "Use folder names" option and point it to \sysmetrix\themes

good luck...let me know how it goes

WinZIP,Right click/extract to here-Themes folder/Sysmetrix.Usually works. But from what I understand, which is very little here lately, the folder has to be named Exactly for Sysmetrix to see it.

Yeah I have both. I tried some other Sysmetrix skins and the folders are all there with the bmps, ini and ttf files.

This is when I create the new folders as I have always done. Otherwise it would say the files already exist instead of creating a new folder on it's own.

When I go to change, Doublet does not show up however after that I tried the Chromium skin creating the new folder and it does show up when I go to change but there is no preview and am unable to change it to that.

Yeah brazil, it won't create a new folder on it's own saying the files already exist and asking to overwrite.

With the folders I created, the name does match exactly with that of the respected Sysmetrix skin.

It really should be easier. There dose not seem to be a universal way to deliver this stuff to us.I just did the Doublet theme with WinZIP,it worked for me.Have you tried, when it asks to overwrite, yes?

Yeah, and if I remember correctly it was messing the themes up.

Do it make a new folder for you? I'm using Winrar by the way.

Just downloaded Doublet. Select 'Extract here' in WinRAR, copy the two folders to the Sysmetrix\Themes folder , select the skin from sysmetrix, done. No problem at all.

Heeeyyyy c242 my man, that worked. I also got Soft Orange III to work. I usually download the zips to my ctemp 3 folder and this time extracted them there like you said. They created folders and then I copied them to the themes subfolder. That worked.

However I cannot get Chromium to work. When extracting it in the ctemp3 folder it does not create a new folder but just appears as the bmps, ini and ttf files. I created a Chromium folder in ctemp3 then extracted it there and after copying that folder to the themes folder. No luck though. It is showing up when I go to change themes but like before no preview shows and I can't do anything with it .

you'll have to name the folder the *exact* same name as the main background .bmp

Well I'll be damned werewolf. Thank you. Don't know why I didn't think of that. Yes, that would solve the issues.

I really appreciate everyones help here. A Big thankyou!

And I guess that was what brazil was talkin about. I just thought he meant naming the folder the same as the respected skin name and not the main backround bmp. They differ.

yeah, that's a problem with sysmetrix, it's not too forgiving with that.

BTW, I really would appreciate if people would switch off their thumbnail-preview saving in XP. Got some themes with the thumbnail.db included (It's hidden). And it makes the zips unneccessary bigger.
