Newer V of DX

Newer V of DX

Hi Everyone, Is there a newer version of Desktop X? Mine is V1.3Build 305, I just downloaded Snarphs DX and it said it was done with a newer version. If so, where do I get the newere version? Thanks much.

What's the question?

GadgetGirl's reference to CM? CM *is* Component Manager.

But may I suggest you install and use Stardock Central. Althouhg it's still in beta, it's still much better than Component Manager.

Hi Again Paxx, I was reading the thing at Stardock, and it sounds like I have to download CM after downloading OD....but now you say to use Stardock Central, is that included with OD?

What are you downloading now?
OD is not something you download. It's just the name of the overall group of products that include Windowblinds, Desktop X, etc.
Component Manager is probably what you are downloading now. Continue downloading it and install it. When it's done installing, open it, and you'll see a bunch of applications. Among that you should see Stardock Central. Stardock Central is in beta and will eventually be what will replace Component Manager. It's more centralise and better done. For example when a software is updating Stardock Central will only download the parts that need updating instead of downloading the whole application all over again.
Get it?

Thank You....You're a sweetheart, you must really get tired of us newbies... . You said what I was trying to say. It's all a little confusing at first, but I'm sure we'll all wake up one day and go.."Oh..I see"...hopefully.

If you have CM, go down on bottom left to available components. Click on that, then go to upper right corner and click on alpha releases. You then will see Desktop X 1.93 Download it. Good luck, Princess

I have Component Manager right now.If you are using Stardock Central, you will need someone else's expertize. I am waiting for the release version of *Stardock Central*

NO NO NO !!! Just download the programs you really want to try
Reply #42 Top
I prefer not to download it right now.
/me prefers released versions instead of alpha and beta versions(had problems with Desktop X 1.93)

ok, but on the documentation that I have in front of me it says that Object Desktop comes with Desktop X, Window Blinds, WinStyles, Object Bar and much more...so where do I find these programs that it was supposed to come with? When I open window blinds, it tells me that my 30 days has expired and I have to buy it...didn't I just do that?

Princess, download only the programs you really want to use and think what will benefit your own needs.
Just one tip, try to read up on each program before you download it. It will save you unnecessary un-installs!
I hope this was correct and also helpful!!

well, I did what you told me to do, the only two things that came up under Alpha is Desktop X and MCP something or other. I tried to download DX and it gave me a message that said Access violation.

Princess,If I can remember, you will need to download them again in Component Manager. Everything is there,WebBlinds,WindowBlinds,WinStyles,SkinStudio, everything is there.
Look back at thread #31 from paxx

Princess, one program that you might like is Component Tray.I don't know if it is still in released version section ? It sits in your system tray and always informs you of new updates. Very helpful!!

If you got the suite after you got the original purchase of desktopX you might not be showing in the system yet as having made the purchase, it could be a matter of being updated in star dock data bank. Try cross referenceing your account again might help
