How to change my name in start menu?

Does anybody know how I can change my name at the top of my start menu on my computer (XP). It has my first and last name right now, but I only want my first name there instead. I have tried the help files, but can't find what I need?

You can either click your user pic or go to control panal, user accounts. Change user name is one option.

ummm....I think if you go to user accounts in control panel and change logon name to show 1st only
