Any graphics editing program, and SkinStudio.

Paintshop Pro is good and reasonably priced. Adobe Photoshop is the "premier" graphics program, but expensive. Some of the simpler things can be done in Microsoft Paint.

I still use the ol' windows Pbrush, probably because I started with it and soley did my first skins with it by replacing existing bitmaps in a theme with my own, but I finally advanced to PSP7 and I love it ( I'd be divorced if I bought Adobe).

If you can't afford something like Photoshop then ther is always The GIMP which is a free photoshop clone originally written for Linux but that has also been ported to windows:

GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program

Powered by SkinBrowser!

So, skinstudio is the "must have"? I have both adobe PS, and jasc's PSP. The skinstudio is the only product of its like out there?

if u were feeling brave u can code it on ur own, and figure out where all the images go through trial and error, but skinstudio is probobly your best option especially since u are a first timer
