A small glitch.. calling out to Admins....

Hi.
There seems to ba asmall glitch in the LogonXP uploads. A .ZIP file is acceptable, but as soon as you upload a .ZIP file, it is renamed .LOGONXP. It creates problems after downloading.

I have different resolutions of the same logon zipped up in a single file... So the members (or visitors for thst matter), who download my Logon, cannot apply it. Please respond and let me know if this glitch can be removed or not.. Cause I wouldn't like to upload different resolutions of the same Logon as a different file, too tedious and it would clutter up my submission list.

Thank you.

For the time being @shu...until someone can help you...anyone that downloads your Logon can change the .logonxp to a .zip file. Then open the zip and install the Logon themes that way

Sorry thats the only solution I can come up with

I know that elvee, I did suggest that at the download page. (Please read the comments) https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=26&SkinID=1029

But the problem is, elvee, that many people who do not come into day to day contact with such stuff and only use a PC to surf the net, do a bit of work, etc do not know how to go bout it. Many don't know the basic of DOS...

And as this site caters to them too, it would be better if this problem is dealt with..

Have you thought about uploading the resolutions separately? That way, it wouldn't have to be "double bagged" and would eliminate a lot of confusion for the "newbies"...Most people would only require one resolution, wouldn't they?

Sorry, I missed your comment about "not cluttering your upload list"

They would, jebland, but that would clutter up my submissions list as well as WC's logonlist. It would show that available logons are three, whereas actually they are all the same... I hope you understand.

oops, u just beat me to it. hehe.

But by the same logic, wouldn't people require different resolutions of the same wall. So should they be uploaded seperately? If somebody does that, well, the new submissions list would scroll so fast....

Well, the difference is, there is not a continual parade of people on this board that can't install walls...

It's against the rules to upload a wall of different sizes seperatly. Need to be zipped all in one. When you unzip it you have the choice of selecting the size that yoyu want. Not brain surgery.

Actually, I think the ideal solution would be to have one screenshot with a selection of sizes to download for Walls, Logons, and DesktopX. That would save time for the downloader, and bandwidth for Wincustomize.

I don't know if that would work on Wincustomize but you see it on wallpaper sites.

Still, my question remains unanswered. maybe the Admins are on a weekend break.

yeah WOM, but alot of libraries if you upload as *.zip with skins details inside gets renamed to that selected library, then people complain it dont work.

Im sure there will be a fix later on, as i had to upload other logon's as such seperately for different resoloutions because of this file rename problem.

This is not a new problem and we are all well aware of it. Any fix woud have to be implememted by T-Man, since it's a programming issue rather than an administrative issue. I know things are very busy at Stardock right now, and T-Man has a lot of projects in the works, so I wouldn't expect the logons issue to be addressed right away. For now, the only solution is to submit your logons separately.

I'll do that the next time.
My next logon, perhaps. hehe

Voo, I can see your point on the Logons. Hadn't thought about that.
