Game skins?

question - there have been a few messages lately about copyright and the such, and i was wondering, ive got a skin i have done, using fgx from some console games collected from various websites, assuming that these images are copyrighted to the companies that created the games, would i legally be able to submit the skin for distribution, or is it best left for my own use only?

- I need to know so I can submit it here or not.

If you have some documentation from the company(s) telling you that you can use their graphics to make wallpapers or other things, then yes, you would be able to submit them. However, if you didn't ask for their permission, then no, you can't. It will only get deleted by the moderators when submitted, so best to just ask for permission first, and when you do, submit it and make a comment in there about having a mod contact you for permission listings.

Is that too much?

thats allowed spinal, if its your own graphic, and we see it's yours but get the point, its allowed, only I am not sure about this point: don't use the company name IN the skin, the name is ok, like my theme X-BOX in the name, but the only mark I used is a X.

If you REPRODUCE the graphics, then it's still copyright infringement.
But if you get inspired and draw your OWN interpretation of the game spirit, then it's OK.

os if I redo my skin, so that its poor graphically, and looks very little like what its supposed to, then its ok?

I dont like legalities

Im no artist, so the result would be terrible. How about I submit it, and if the mods think it infringes on compyright stuff, they will delete it? is that how it works?

I did upload my x-box skin, but now they say I stole thinks ripping is bad, creating is good.
