daft question...

I dont know how Micro$oft feels about rival shells running on top of windows instead of explorer, but why dont MS have a range of shells, so the user can choose how they want windows to look, instead of being stuck with that damn startbar? if anything it might just make windows users a little happier.

why would microsoft advertise for someone else with their own development, work, and money?

What's it with people who like spelling microsoft with a dollar sign? It's starting to bug me a little bit.

i mean why done microsoft <- see with an S, create some alternate shells so we can choose from a range when we first instal windows. like with most distributions of linux.

Cause this is more fun and you can make your own and there are so many choices and much of this is free

Probably Microlimp doesn't realize there could be an alternative to explorer. If someone would make an alternate shell that cost a lot of money and became popular, then you could bet the next version of Windows would have it built in.
