Pattern Help

In PSP7 when I click patterns and adjust all the setting and stuff nothing comes up in the preview and nothing happends when I press ok, does anyone have any idea why? I only have one main layer so that isn't the problem

I think that you cannot do anything on the background layer. (Is it a .BMP file? cause if it is, no process can be carried out on it..)

Haha not true....any layer in PS can be messed with as long as it is not locked. Look in the layers paletter and if you see a lock on a layer that means that layer cannot be changed. Just double click on that layer in the layers palette and a dialogue window pops up asking you something (can't remember at this time), just press ok and now that layer can be altered. As it is if you have a layer locked a lot of the options won't be available for it so nothing will happen.

background is probably locked like in Photoshop....

and also CMYK or some such, might have to convert it to RGB...
