Sub menus very slow to open

I have 'My Games' (pointing to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games) set to show as a Menu, however when I open the menu it's often very slow to open. I click the 'My Games', and the menu panel will open, but it's blank for anything up to 10 seconds, then the icons appear. Once it's opened and shown the icons it works properly (i.e. opens and shows icons instantly) for a while, then it reverts back to opening slowly. I'm guessing this is a caching problem, but how do I fix it?

What kind of drive is that folder stored on?

There was a known bug in Windows Defender on Windows 8 which would cause some very slow populating and if that's a popup menu then you may be experiencing that assuming Microsoft didn't fix the bug in Windows 10.  Unfortunately the menus are created by the OS rather than Start10.
