toon-xp help

I am very new to this and just purchased OD and ToonXP. I have the WinXP suite loading and it works perfectly. When I try to apply the Toon XP theme desktopX crashes.

I have a win98 machine.

Of the 2 downloadable files for ToonXp one self extrated and placed the files were they were supposed to go. The other was a zip file and I entracted these to the desktopX\objects folder. Is this correct?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the title does lend itself some curiosity. Anyway, I have a problem with TOON-XP as well. I installed it on my Windows XP computer with no difficulty, but when I tried to put it on the computer that I had upgraded from 98 to XP, it crashed the DesktopX screen. Any help?

are either of you getting any error messages about a missing dll file?

i'm wondering if it's the clock pluging... for some awkward reason that strikes me as the prob... I have XP never had a problem with the DX theme... you could try emailing the guys at Pixtudio... they made the skin...

there was a problem with the clock plugin which caused it to show the wrong time. This has been fixed. The only problem I've heard about quite frequently is a missing dll. Something like msvtc7.dll Something like that.

yeah.. i've heard of that one too... hmm.... something must be causing it though... and other than that plugin... it's all just pop ups... but alot of people have that problem with the missing DLL.... hmmmm..... interesting....

On one of the reboots, there were many, I did see something refering to a .dll but do not recall what exactly it was.

I even tried loading just a single toon object and that crashed desktopX. I have not had a problem loading any other objects, only the ones from toon. each one fo them crashes X.

I purchased Toon XP. During installing the theme manager I got a message from DesktopX.exe saying "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1." It gives you a choice of cancel, try again, and continue. None of them work it, the message just keeps coming back. What should I do? Thank you for help you can offer.

bump...no one has seen this problem before??? i haven't... I know that I got a similar error... because the gauges or whatnot on the top show the space on drive D: well that is my CD rom... so I had to put a cd in to make the error go away... try putting disks in your drives, and a cd in the cd rom... likewise if anyone else has a suggestion it would help immensly... im curious as to the cause of his problem...

I seem to remember there was a problem with the guages in the early version of Toon which has since been corrected. May be worth re-downloading the DX component.

Thank you so very much for your help!!! The problem went away after I inserted a zip disk into my zip drive which happens to my drive D.

I just purchased and installed Toon XP. (A readme somewhere would have been nice on how to handle the dxpact and wall zip, btw imo. Perhaps it should be obvious, but for a purchased product some instructions would be nice.)

I'm also having the DX crash. A message that msvcr70.dll was not found, a debug message of an object initializing error code point 003 DesktopX (gage) and a message that there is a parsing error. This is on a new XP box with latest releast of DX (not alpha or beta).

This is a stardock product, but for support questions do we contact stardock or pixstudio?

either would work... they can both help you ... but the gentleman who made the suite are often in the message boards... haven't seen them lately they are often busy with skin updates and such... they are making alot of new stuff... and updating alot of old stuff... as for that error others have had it... the solution... I don't recall.... but i'm bumping the thread up so someone else may tell you how they settled the problem...

Thanks da_zman20. I guess I'll email Stardock support. Now it appears I can't run DX at all, even trying another theme. Oh well...
