Wincustomize subscriber?

I got a questionaire when I logged on asking if I was a Stardock customer and subscriber? ( something about the 2 companies merging or something? )
I am not a subscriber, so does that mean I won't be able to download in the future?

There is a cap on the download limit for citizens and guests. People who are apprentice or higher have unlimited downloads. Subscribers to Stardock/Wincustomize also have unlimited downloads. I hope that answers your question

ohh I see, as I'm just a plain old member it means I will still be able to download but they will be limited to so many a day?

no, just limited to something like 50MB you can download (the limit seems to shift between 50 and 100 periodically.. depending on the traffic, etc). You can keep downloading until you hit that limit, then they will ask you to subscribe if you wish to download more....

If you get promoted before you hit that limit, then you have unlimited downloading power

but what happens if I don't download much anyway and I don't want to subscribe because of this fact? Does that mean I wont be able to use wincustomize no more???

Provided you don't exceed the 50 meg you'll be fine.
If you wish to exceed 50 meg then clearly you WILL be using Wincustomize a lot and therefore it is only reasonable to expect some form of legitimate contribution.

Ultimately, someone MUST pay for the band-width required to keep Wincustomize ticking over, and the most logical is those who use/benefit from it...

Ahh I see Jafo and is it 50meg in total or yearly or something?

Ask yourself what your using Wincusto for... If you purchase just one stardock product you get unlimited downloads... if your only using it for wall papers you will find that other sites cater to larger galleries. on the other hand you can help support this site and become a full fledged member.

At this instant there are currently 1033 registered members online, each merrily viewing/downloading/uploading.
Imagine what that alone would take to run/finance....

One thing that does worry me tho, I live in England and I don't have a credit card, how do I pay for my subscription? I do have a debit card. not sure if Stardock accepts them tho?

Stardock accepts Visa/MasterCard, from whichever country. You also send a money order if you don't want to use a credit card. That's how I paid when I first bought Object Desktop. I don't use my credit card online. One of my peeves, sorry.

Here a direct cut and paste from the sales FAQ:

Q: I don’t have a credit card. How can I purchase Stardock software?

A: We also accept checks or money orders in US funds (no Eurocheques, please, as they are not certified funds). Please print and use the order form at https://www.stardock.com/order.txt (also found in the directories of Stardock’s shareware products) and mail with payment to:

Stardock Systems, Inc.
17292 Farmington Rd.
Livonia, MI 48152
USA

So I can send an English cheque made out for x amount of dollars and just mail it off to the above Stardock address? ( Sorry, I've never purchased anything online before and with me being in England I want to make sure I'm doing it correctly )

I would recommend you go to your bank and draw a draft in american funds. Saves you having to worry about getting your conversion correct on a cheque.

You can always request the bank to make you a money order in the form of "dollars" and they'll convert the pound to dollars for you. Info I gained from being an international college student

As they've said, yes. You -can- generally write a personal cheque out for foreign currency (I've written US cheques in Canadian dollars and UK Pounds before,) but it's sometimes a hassle. Your best bet is to get your bank to draw up a money order or cashier's cheque, or whatever they'd want to do. ^_^

Awesome thanks a ton guys, you've made my headache go away now!

Banks are usually really nice about money orders in a different currency, especially US Dollars, it's one of the most widely used currencies
