They probably had to IP ban somebody and you got mixed up in it. Email them and they will probably fix it for you. I think that jark's email address is: [email protected] They are usually pretty cool about it.

I'm afraid that's what has happened to you. Someone gets banned, they keep coming back with new e-mail addresses and nicknames and continuing to be a pain in the ass. So, they have no choice but to ban the whole IP. It's a shame for people like you who have done nothing wrong, but it means that the person who was banned has to get a new ISP if they want to join up again.

I heard that Deviantart once banned the whole of AOL to get rid of one person!!

Yes....one little prat over there resulted in all of AOL being excluded for a while.
It happens. On that particular occasion I would have wrung the kid's neck, simply for what he'd done against me, personally...

thats also one of the reasons that people spamming is taken so seriously by ISP's, there are a number of black-lists, you get put on it and there is a very good chance your whole domain will be blocked for anyone making use of the lists on there server filter setup.

but, what else can they do?

we never banned AOL from *using* the site. what we did do, however, is disallow new accounts to be made by AOL users. big difference.

in any event, try browsing now. the problem has been resolved.

In another thread I mis-spoke when I claimed I did not go to any other skinning sites, well not really, Deviantart to me isn't really a skinners site, or Pixologic or Renderosity ether. but WOW the artwork, they did it right, everyone should read the article about it's birth and evolutions to its point in reality today

Jake: I doubt that jark is "gunning for me". I said that I heard about that incident, I never said it was a fact.
Besides, Jark is too nice a guy to be gunning for anyone.
