Opinion Sought

Got this comment on a skin of mine and can't figure out if it is a good comment or a bad one.

What do you think, Good or Bad?

We love this one here at the Church of Hog. That wonderful impression of a very long, very pretentious project suddenly turned to shit for no apparent reason...and yet it's easy to use and perfectly legible. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

Ms D. personally, until thy learned how to present an opinion in *english* I wouldn't worry to much about what they say.

But in reading it, it seems to at one point be negative and at another positive, and it totally lacks a consistant use of context to hold any true meaning.

Hey, you like it, I like it and many others like it, they count, even those who do not like it count if they can present an opinion in a constructive meaningful manner, which this totally lacks.

just my pov screwy as it is..

I left a comment at the skin for a clarification but nada in the last couple days.

The comment in itself doesn't bother me except it is a mystery that bothers me.

I love a mystery and wanted more input to add to a solution.

I once got this comment from the same person:

"One of only a handful that we're really happy using here at the Church of Hog : simple, legible, no tedious sci-fi pretentions. Beautiful. We always have one niggle, even on ones we like, and today's is the slow animation on the start button. Oh, and if an update is forthcoming, how about putting something other than "start" on the start button. We suggest 'Pain'." ........

I concluded that they were being, for the most part, positive in the comment, even going so far as to offer a suggestion or two to improve the skin. I believe the post was sincere. One this is certain, the suggestions made did improve the skin.

It was the line "...,even on ones we like,..." that had me confused. I wasn't sure if my skin was or wasn't one of the ones 'they' liked.

Is it possible that this person saw the post you left on the board about it when you were having trouble with the bullet holes. I can't remember you wording exactly but didn't you say it had gone to shit or something like that. You were to the point of trashing it completely. They could be commenting on it along those lines.
I think it turned out very nice by the way.

All-in-all, I really believe the comments are positive and, in my case, quite helpfull. I would always welcome more from the same person. From my point of view, they are doing exactly what I like commenters to do...that is, comment, good or bad, and offer any suggestion they like to improve the skin.

My advice would be just ignore it. People who can't be understood probably don't understand themselves anyways

To me, he sounds like a smart-arsed prat who is sailing very close to the wind.
Quaintly veiled and eloquent 'put-downs' are still just 'put-downs', except they are done in such a way as to display the commenter's imagined [self-delusional] intellectual prowess.

As for the 'pretentious' use of the Royal 'We'....

"Perhaps if I'd spent as much time and effort in creating this work as you clearly have in attempting to be clever, you probably would still have found fault, as those that can, do, and those that cannot, criticise."....[Smiley is optional]....

how's this for a response:

"Perhaps a lense flare, a dolphin, and britney spears are more to you liking???, I know where you can find all of them"

That wonderful impression of a very long, very pretentious project suddenly turned to ****

for no apparent reason

/me thinks this right here says that all of the hard work put into this skin was for nothing... basically she is saying the skin is bad... but

...and yet it's easy to use and perfectly legible. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
/me doesn't understand why she turns around and then says here Easy to use, and perfectly legible...

so a lot of work goes into the skin, it comes out as S**t though, but it's easy to use and read... it's a contradiction... what is bad about it??? she says it's bad, but then turns around and says... but it's good... she must have been slightly inebriate when she typed that...

I do believe meant nothing wrong with Motion's skin however... she was giving polite criticism... but I don't get why the "pain" would replace start, was that meant as sarcasm??? as in it's painfull to see the slow moving startmenu... or pain as in pain has something to do with the title of the skin... that's what confuses me... : once again inebriate I believe... under the influence of my old friend Cap'n Morgan (although I prefer Cap'n Crunch.. he he he)

Maybe some people can't make up their minds. So they like to argue with themselves on our skins comments.
