The only thing is I cannot find a place where it says if you need to un-install 7 before you install 8. I really would hate to mess this all up. Any thoughts?

i doubt it Keila, I never had to install for any previous beta. Just make sure it goes in a new location

err, never had to unintall....

anyhow, I have 7.04 and 8 installed and running without any problems

No backward compatability, 30 day expiration. Added layering. Looks like they are trying to make it more like Photo Shop.

Keila, it doesn't give you the option as to where you want to load it. It will create a new folder, so you will have 2 PSP's.

Does owning Paint Shop Pro 7.04 anniversary edition automatically let you have version 8 for free?

I don't know, but I own PSP 7 Anniversary edition as well

no, unfortunately. At the site it says we can get v8 for $49.

No Jam. This is a beta (30 day) trial. When they are done Betaing and come out with the new release, they might give discounts. But who knows.

The way I see it, when you buy a version, stick with it cause it's going to be like the next version after it (pretty much). We have artists on here using rather "old" version of photoshop and they're still doing fine

There's no need to worry about if you can upgrade to version 8 or not, IMO

Well, I won't bother with the beta and I'll wait to see what they do with upgrading when the time comes....

Then again, everyone likes to stay on the top of the tech line, which isn't bad.. mind you, just rather expensive for a student who doesn't work

WOM, I noticed that after I loaded it. Although, I am glad I still have both. It does look to much like Photo Shop. I will be using my PSP 7 until I have time to look the other one over. I have Photo Shop 7 also but the look is so different. I really don't have the time lately to get used to it. I get something started, get frustrated by not knowing where anything is and just turn it off.

I would agree with what Elfkura said, but in this case it looks, so far, that this will be a major change. They have added Layering. Haven't looked that close as to what else is new.

Thanx for the jeads up, Keila!
WOM... what do you mean 'added layering'? PSP has had layers since version 6.
Keila, it won't look like PhotoShop, it will still look and feel like PSP. It's the new features they have added that PhotoShop already has that PSP did't.

they always put expiration on the beta. Usually there are a few, and before the expiration wears off they release another build. Layering isnt anything new WOM, it just looks a little different on the gui.

err... jeads up = heads up
You think your bad Koasati, I did not even notice.

I noticed, but I got called Jafo-wannabe before, so I refrained from correcting him

Thanks, I try

See, boyfriend's been trying to get me to develop a "sense of humor".. or something like that.. I seem to have a bit of trouble, but looks like I'm learning a little

I never noticed a lack of "sense of humor" with you Elfkura.
