Disappearing Text?

I use Windows 98se and I am using the 'Frosted' Window Blind which works great and looks brill but one problem, when I use the drop down menu on my Excite messenger to change my away status it is all blank, the text has disappeared... any ideas as to why this is and what I can do to fix it would be greatly appreciated. As this problem is driving me nuts. Thank you.

Not all programs react equally when they are skinned. try excluding excite messenger from being skinned in the windowblinds options. Obviously it will no longer be skinned but it will be readable.

It is also possible that the color of the text is the same as the color of the background, which would make it look as if it disappeared.

how do I exclude it from Window Blinds?, sorry I'm new to Window Blinds so am not very knowledgable at the moment.

you can hold down the control key while starting Excite. I believe that cancels all skinning.

You do it in the configuration panel. Click on the windowblinds icon.

NP Blondie66. Not a very elegant solution. WOM's suggestion is more permanent. You will need to know the executable file for the Excite program, but you can exclude it that way.

yikes! that sounds a bit technical for a dumb blonde! , I wouldn't have a clue where to even start to do that.

It's really not hard to do. Go to the display properties area where your windowblinds list is. Click on the windowblinds button, the click on the 'per application' button. Click on 'Add per application setting'. Then you have two choices. You can browse to the folder where the Excite app is and choose it, or you can drag that little target icon onto an open Excite messenger window.

try it and let me know.

Blondie... if you only have that problem with the Frosted skin, you have another option as well..... you can use the per application settings, to have it skinned with one that works.
Open the Configuration dialog and go to Per Application settings. From there, you can exclude or have it use a specific skin.
