I don't know the answer to your problem except Windowblinds 4.0

That version won't even let me open a browser.

My windowblinds 4 will only let me display Jafo's "Trapped in Bryceworld" wallpaper and nothing else......

The newest version 3.9d won't even let me open explorer. All I can do is log on and look at a blank desktop.

I think Stardock was premature in releasing any version of the new WB.

Well, Sally an awful lot of people were begging and pleading for an alpha version....

It is still in alpha. By definition it isn't finished yet. I wouldn't consider that releasing a new version. You don't have to download it unless you want to test it. As for the original question, I don't think the flat toolbar buttons option works yet in WB4. As I understand it, it was temporarily disabled while issues are being worked out.

Im using WB 3.9d on Win Xp Prof. The "Make toolbars flat " feature works just fine for me. As a matter of fact, I haven't run into any problems with this version yet. (knock on wood)

What is puzzling is the alpha works for some ppl and not for everyone.

I suppose that has to do with the system video cards and stuff like that.

I guess I am jealous that I can't get it to work.

i haven't had any problems with the alpha version of WB either... it works great for me a for your problems they may have something to do with your system settings... seeing as the only complaints on here have been minor ones such as black boxes on title bars, and the shell styles skinning improperly... hmm... it maybe a problem with your IE and the microsoft ties into the explorer... it both of your problems.. try windows update... then see if you still have the same problem...
