My son heared about it at the airport, some kind of alert for tomarrow, or the next few days, not sure whats going on. Hope its just a rumor.

it's the end of the pilgrmage(spellign) to mecca, and they are expecting terrorist attacks in both the USA and Israel... USA is worried about Chem/Bio, but there has been a lot of talk about a dirty bomb or two popping off though they do know know where they would be located. 2 weeks ago the DOD, Homeland Defense and the Administration sent out a public warning for everyone to be ready to leave where they are located at a moments notice, also threw in leave the nation of residence, but I guess someone thought about it afterwards and how utterly stupid that is to tell the American people, were would we go ? I guess someone flubbered and should have made sure we were told the city or state...

Anyway, yeah its for real, Homeland Defense told people to stock up on foor, Commercial Grade Plastic rolls and ductape in case of a chem/bio/DB attack near you. Well close, if it is to near hang it up...

They also expect full unchecked terror attacks once the invasion beings...

go figure...

My wife was plagued by one of her coworkers that was preaching the government recommendations: flashlights, batteries, food for three days, double checking the seals on your windows and doors. She, herself was going after work to buy duct tape to seal her windows.

I was like, how farking stupid would you have to be? 3 Days worth of food? Have you seen the US government clean up *anything* in three days? As for power outages we have freak, terroristic thunderstorms and rogue, falling trees that force us to the sad extreme of keeping an DC light source already.

Middle of Winter, all of your house's orifices sealed tight for 'safety', and a three+ ton air pump shoving all the great, chemically and bacterially UNfiltered air into it. Unless you still heat your house with some sort of wood-burning/water-boiling system, fresh air is being pumped in from somewhere, and I dunno of any system guaranteed to filter Anthrax or Ricin. Fact is, (and Jafo can back me up, i think) building codes *require* venting of some sort, pretty much ruling out the hope of hermetically sealing your house.

I want so much to go from house to house, laughing at all the paranoid people sealing their windows with duct tape. You might as well wear a aluminum (spelling Amer-i-KAN) foil hat to protect against mind control. On the other hand it would have been even funnier to see the reactions of Americans if the government had asked us to turn off our heating/air conditioning in the event of an attack. What? How dare you mandate discomfort!

Chances are....were you to completely seal your house totally...you'd suffocate before you ran out of 3 days of food....

I would expect at the least a clean up in 3weeks.. at the least. Very large area to clean up. I'm in the middle of BFE so I'll only get hit if they were really despert(maybe sp but checker can't figure it out) to get everybody.

Ah, duct tape is an all purpose fixer upper so it's always good to have on hand. But as for sealing up one's house with plastic sheeting, might as well tell people to build bomb shelters in their back yards again for all the good it'll do if there was something really serious going on.

All one has to do is consider the containment measures used by the CDC in their labs and then figure if plastic sheeting and duct tape really would suffice. (BTW, AFAIK, ricin is a poison that has to be ingested orally. Not suitable for aerosol type dispersion like some other stuff.)

I like at it this way if they do a terrorist attack, it won't be our homes... yeah... im gonna drop a chemical bomb in street in between two houses... no... they are gonna go for somewhere where their is alot of people at once... like they did on sept 11... hurt as many people as you can... that's the way they think... they would somehow get the chemical weapons by city halls... and big office buildings... they wouldn't be able to get DC. too packaged up... but other big citys... LA, New York, Seattle, and such... that's what I think... but I am personally worried about our allies, my real bet is that they are gonna do something bad in Britain... because they havn't hit brittain yet... that's just my opinion...

They have to know what kind of an affect that would have, then again if they hit a kids school people would come un-glued and there would probably be a demand for an over abundance of dirty blaskish gray sand melted glass mixed with mirror and hell with oil...
