User pics

Can anyone tell me where I can get different user pics to add to the top of my start menu, and how to get them there? I don't really like the ones that came with XP.

Some WindowBlinds skins contain matching user pics in thier folder. There are probably sites that have them for download as well. I'd try searching Google. You can also make your own. Any 48x48 pixel bmp, gif, or jpg will do.

You can select a different one by clicking on the user pic on your start menu. The window that opens has a link below the default user pics that says something like "browse for more pictures".

Yeppers, I have made a user pic to go with every wallpaper that I use.
You can either crop the wallpaper or pick out a particular part of it. As long as it's 48x48 like MikeB314 said.

Actually - I found out the other day that any image /period/ will work - Windows will automatically resize it down (keeping its aspect ratio, too) to the size it needs to fit into the box. The results aren't always the greatest - but my resized pic of Virginie Ledoyen that I keep there looks fine to me! ^_^

I was gonna say though... when I want a new user Icon I go to deviantart.com... the aim buddy icons there are the same size and suit basically the same puppose... just remember that the moving ones won't move....

werewolf, you probably forgot to check of the hidden and system folders box.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\Default Pictures

Of course, the drive letter could vary, depending on where you installed Windows.

Thanks Mike I moved all my user pics into that folder. Now I don't have to search for the want I want to use.
