Icons won't move with fences, icons can overlap, can't put icons into fences, scrollbars don't work...

I do not know what causes this behaviour, but nearly every day I have this problem. The fences will stop working as intended and icons can be placed anywhere on the desktop, completely ignoring the fences. When dragging fences around, the icons stay where they are. Scroll bars on the fences do not work at all. The only way I know how to fix this is by restarting explorer.exe.

I made a video of the behaviour, you can see it here:

I'm running Windows 8.1. Is there a solution to this?

Quaint problem you have there....  I'd expect something else is affecting the desktop and stealing Fences' functionality.  When you kill/restart Explorer you are effectively restoring Fences' access and stopping whatever proggy was stealing it.

Forgot to mention that something that usually works is going into Fences' configuration and unchecking the "Enable Fences" box, then rechecking it.

Quoting Voltrant, reply 2

End of Voltrant's quote

Yes, as I said...something is stopping/disabling Fences' function.  Was there a time when you had no issue like this...and if so...what has changed/been added/installed since?

I believe that Fences did work properly before, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm going to try tracking down which programs might be causing this behaviour, I'll post back if I figure anything out.

I am having similar issue.

Used Fences perfectly on my old laptop. It does not work on my new one.

Fences do little to preserve my desktop icon organization. Clicking and Unclicking the "Enable Fences" does not seem to help me.

It is a work laptop so not sure if there are security measures that can mess with Fences functionality.

Thanks for any help.

Make sure you have the latest version of Fences from your Stardock account.
