Request for anyone at WinCustomize...

I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to save the Favicon.ico for this site, most times I can just go to that url (https://www.wincustomize.com/favicon.ico) & save the image from there but when I do that for THIS site all I get is a solid black square. I've tried every way I know how to "strip" the icon off of the internet shortcut but alas I cannot. Could somebody at WinCustomize please put the .ico somewhere where I could download it please? I'm a bit anal when it comes to these things, my browser has all those spiffy icons to go with each Link shortcut, I'll try to put up a screenshot if I can.

Thanks,
smooches,

favicons remain in your offline cache so if you clear you cache they remain unless you select the "delete all offline content" option... now strangly enough on my own personal web page writen by me... not very good... but anyway. When I go to my site the browser puts up a Netscape favicon for it... I don't understand why... I did not code that nor do I use netscape for much of anything.

da_zman20: What I'm after is the little custom icon that appears (sometimes) when you bookmark the page. Most sites have them now, but they are less than reliable, they work sometimes but don't work sometimes.

You can read all about it here:

that is what Static is trying to tell you... if you are seeing a URL icon in the address field, you can open up Winfile, or what have you and copy it out of the cache and save it elsewhere and then add it to you fav-links list...

What I have always done to get the icon to "stick" is after adding it to my favorites, I go to my Temporary Internet Files folder and copy out the .ico to a different location. I rename it, and then if you right click on the shortcut, you can pick properties. There's a button to change icon. Browse to the ico you have rescued from your cache, and apply it. works for me.

Favorite icons are always in a web site's root directory. Just add favicon.ico the any site's url, and you'll get the icon (if they have one). For example: https://www.wincustomize.com/favicon.ico
Unfortunately, the icon appears black to me. Perhaps the file was corrupted somehow.
