I think I might have to retire from skin making, the amount of hassle I’ve had over the last two days, trying to upload files that wincustomize says are invalid, but they work on my computer fine. It’s now 3am and I’m asking myself why am I bothering?

....simple,like me.

I haven't tried to upload a Desktop X theme, but I can say that the last few days here at WC have been a bit strange. One day my skinbrowser opens and logs in with just a breath, and the next day a sledge hammer won't budge it.
I might suggest keep trying if it all works on your computer. And BTW, I really like your LCARS.

Just try and narrow it down like that. You have uploaded successfully before, so I would think there is a simple explanation, which can be so easily overlooked that it seems impossible. Besides, I would hate to see you give up andd deny us you good work. Whups, I almost sound like I actually work here or something.
