A.I. Drengin Rage Quit - CTD After Destroying their Planet

I'm 275 turns into a game which unfortunately I'm unable to continue due to it constantly crashing. I was in a long battle with the Drengin to which I was finally able to overtake one of their planets. However, upon destroying the planet that I captured the game crashes to desktop. I've tried multiples saves and multiple tries, every time I destroy this planet the game instantly CTD's.

This is a make or break move as I lost a lot taking this planet and don't have the means to defend it. If I can't destroy it, I lost a lot for nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Also I tried joining a multiplayer lobby and that CTD as well before connecting.

Yea I've had to same problem; CTD when trying to destroy a planet. Best I've been able to do is to raze all improvements, its not really ideal, but until its fixed dunno what you can do.

If they fix it, will the fix apply to my saved game? Or would I have to start new?
