How do you take a screenshot of your desktop?

I remember being able to take a screenshot of my desktop by pressing print screen. Does this still work? And also, how do I retrieve the picture?

Ok, how many replies do you see in here? I see one and I know there is 3 so far. I was the first, then there was another, and now Ande replied. I'm very confused.

Your confusion is confusing me

Prior to this post, it showed 2 replies, Ande's and yours. I make 3, maybe.

But to myfatacack, Ande is correct.
After hitting the Print Screen button, use your favorite graphics editor to create a new image, then paste the contents of the clipboard, which should be your screenshot, into the new image.

Whelp, see I sneak up on the monitor from behind the bookcase and then lean around to make sure it didn't take notice, then I toss my mouse over to the other side and when it spins around to see what just mad that noise over there I jump out and shout HEY and BANG right between the Cathode
