Icons How do you

Icons How do you

change the size of the icons on the righthand side of the start menu. Everywhere else the size changes. I just know the answer is going to be bloody simple.

Any luck yet, Sid? Sorry - I had to crash. If not - try reboot into safe mode, and then logging on as 'Administrator' - then try resetting the settings for user account. After that check all your security policies again (if you're running XP Pro. I know Home doesn't -use- local sec policies - but there's gotta be some way to check.)

I am just kicking this thread back up. Original question was - Can the icons on the right side of the start menu be resized. I can change the size of all other icons but not those.

To the best of my knowledge the icons I assume you are refering to are the ones under the programs section of the menu.

Windows doesn't provide you with a way to increase the size of those icons.

However, you can trick your eye into seeing them larger by using some ridiculously low screen res like 800x600.

But who wants to do that?

Thanks phreak_of _nature. But definately not going to that res.

Ande, as far as I'm aware of there is no way to increase the size of those icons....
Just another Windows limitation imposed on those of us who want to tweak until we just can't tweak it no more...

Oh yeah, XP...
Are you asking about the My Computer, My Music, My Documents, Network Connections, etc. icons?

Yeah you can't change those either...
sucks don't it?

Ande...you could use Objectbar. Then you could have the icons any size you want, any font you want, and anything you want on the start menu in any order that you want it in...

O', there is a way. It's if you really want to get your hands dirty. You can mess with the reg.

IF you want that info. I'll post it. That's only if you are willing to mess with them.

And no luck by what I did yet. O', and I am the Administrator account. 1 account on the whole system. It's mine

O' crap on me. I was wrong about the icons. Hell, you can do text and the icons on the desktop. Man, just woke up and can't think straight.
Hell yea.. If you want to change all icon sizes. You can do that in your display properties. Just go to appearence, select icons from the list and change the size, hit apply.

If that's not what you want. Let me know and I'll see what else I can find.

Actually - by default on XP, there's also an account named 'Administrator' - it's just hidden from the logon screen unless you boot up in safe mode.

The account you create for yourself during installation is /also/ given Admin priveledges though, yes. ^_^

You can always try creating another user with admin privelidges and trying the same - or seeing if you can access the properties with the other account. I haven't seen it manifest like this, but it /could/ be possible you have a corrupt NTUSER file of some kind too. Hrm. (Just throwing up ideas... and babbling.)

Umm, I wonder if my programs would check that file and tell me.

Weaksid/kthxbye. Tom you scare the hell out of me and Darren your not too far behind him. I'm an elderly conservative, I have decided I can live with the icons the way they are. If they are not meant to be broken I am not going to try and (fix) it. Thanks for your efforts.

/me goes to eat some jelly.
