Weekly payments - should these be periodised?

Like in the Total War series - make x number of payments for x number of turns/weeks.

At the moment weekly payments are indefinite, I like that less. I find it less realistic and less concrete.

Also: the penalty for breaking a treaty seems a bit low at the moment.

Thoughts?

Yes, all treaties should need to be renewed from time to time.  And imo there should be a penalty to all diplomatic relations for breaking them early.

Peace treaties should also have a duration.  Imo Breaking those early should be possible but should give a withdrawing from the UP level hit to all relations.

I don't have a problem with diplomacy as is. I can't remember the last time I agreed to a weekly payment plan with any of the AI. In fact they never even suggest that I pay them something weekly. If they did I would just refuse.

I thought this was weird two. I think treaties should last 20-30 turns. ATM pretty easy to rack up on credits per turn by trading for that instead of lump sums of gold.

End of Illauna's quote

Each turn is supposed to be a week, so you are saying that treaties should be renewed every 6 months?

If you trade 4 techs to a minor for 100bc per turn it will take you over 75-100 turns to get what they would have brought for cash and you are risking that the minor gets destroyed long before the turns elapse. When you buy on time it always costs a lot more.

Do you think it is mean to collect payments from the AI?

They have already done a balance pass on trade values. I hope they don't change a thing, but if they do...mehh
