Anti-troll 101

Anti-troll 101

Dear members:

These are not cyber-war tactics ()…these are just common sense/courtesy/decency type tactics that if properly deployed could do this forum a world of good:

When a troll starts a thread:

IGNORE IT. Don’t respond…it just PERPETUATES the thread no matter how good your intentions because you bring the ‘troll’ thread back up where it certainly doesn’t belong.

REPORT it: Rather than responding you can right click on the ‘mother thread’ link and save the link and forward it to an Administrator whom can remove the link if it’s repugnant or rude etc.

REMEMBER: A troll wants attention…ignore him…and he leaves…keep giving him a trail of crumbs and he’ll follow.

Follow?

My moms from Mayport, JAX, right at the mouth of the Saint Johns (?) river of all places.

The roads froze up back in 86 and the troopers shut them down from about Lakeland on up north to the border.

Ph00ey, where abouts? I'm west central down near the Skyway, well, actually I can see it out my back window, the Skyway that is. Dang cold wind blowing in over the water...

Today's Lesson : How to find out how far a Troll will travel

Now class today we are going to figure out how far a troll will fly if you kick him/her in the butt.

First you will need a ~wide~ open space : for max distance.

Second you will need your good kicking shoes

Third you will have to make sure it's not a windy day other than the wind coming out of their mouths :-O

Formula

F(n)=m(kg)*a(m/s²) "Force(newtons)=mass(keligrams)*Acceleration(meters/second²)"

Now, say a troll weighs 68.04kg (150lbs). You want to boot him/her in the ass 91.44meters (100yds "football field"). Now you want them to reach the end in 5 seconds. What is the force in newtons will it take from you?

After several tries I'll put the real answer.

P.S.
This is Newton's second Law. The formula will actually give you a answer. I didn't make any of this up.

O', I couldn't resist doing that

too bad you didn't ask me 3 years ago... I would have answered this one...honestly... it's amazing what I have forgotten... but soon I will remember

Weaksid, don't forget the troll's 'butt' will have a damping factor which will dissipate some of the energy put in. Your calculation needs to take that into account

Trying to kill me Fuzzy? I had to relearn all that info. Putting that formula in will take more time.. I might add that a little later.

I prefer to keep things simple. Just boot as hard as you can then measure the distance

Fuzzy, I looked up dampering effect.. That's only with audio..

Going to make their butts listen to music before you kick it?

Couldn't remember what the correct terminology was for the ability to soak up compression. I know strechability is Young's Modulus. It's a long time since I did Physics - got 98% in my exam BTW. The old memory is a bit transparent these days...

Damping Factor in audio is to do with how quickly a sine wave recovers following a signal input. The higher the Damping Factor, the tighter the bass. So that's not too far off what I meant, just drop the 'b'
